About the Operations team
The Department of Molecular Biology (DMB) Operations team provides support to department scientists, the administrative staff, and our greater MGH research community.
Our team consists of 13 professionals who specialize in a variety of services that support the scientific endeavor. These include glass wash, tissue culture waste disposal, media preparation, purchasing, stockroom supply, instrument repair, and laboratory safety. In addition to these services, we foster good citizenship in the labs by providing instrumentation training and collaborative laboratory maintenance.
We're integrated into the DMB administration and contribute to the administrative mission in a number of ways. For example, we take responsibility for administrative offices, physical infrastructure, and a variety of special projects.
Our work for the greater MGH community is done mainly through the Molecular Biology Operations Core, a recharge center that allows us to service labs throughout MGH on a break-even, fee-for-service basis. Our Core operates several stockrooms in the Simches Research Building that are open to everyone at MGH. The Core also provides a variety of specialized media, glass wash, and tissue culture waste disposal.
We strive to provide the very best service to members of our community. We care deeply about science at MGH and we do whatever we can to promote it.
