Photosynthetic plants are the principal solar energy converter and oxygen replenisher sustaining life on Earth. Our research is inspired by the remarkable beauty, plasticity and complexity that plants display to govern their intrinsic and perpetual growth and developmental programs integrated with fluctuating and diverse environment stimuli, limitations and challenges.
We are probing plant life by developing simple and powerful tools and strategies to unravel plant signal transduction pathways from sensors/receptors to signaling cascades and target genes and proteins, central to energy and metabolic homeostasis, innate immunity and stress adaptation, cell fate specification, and plant shape and architecture determination. Our investigations are guided by our curiosity and the desire to promote the use of green plants as a versatile and fascinating model system to discover fundamental principles in the regulatory networks of living organisms.
