microRNA and small RNA pathways, innate immunity, and longevity

The Ruvkun lab is focused on microRNA and small RNA pathways in animal defense against viruses and bacteria. We also study how the innate immune system surveils core cellular processes for microbial attacks to then mount defensive measures. The lab engine is genetic analysis via full genome sequencing of newly generated mutations from large-scale genetic screening, and comparative genomics of the genes so identified.
